It depends what type of GoPro you have. 60FPS is only really necessary if you want to show slowmo video. However if you have a GoPro3 Black, that is the minimum. If you don't then cutting down to 30fps (or 25fps depending on PAL or NTSC setting) definitely extends the battery life. However, 60-70 mins on 720 with 60FPS is pretty bad. I do use the battery pack for my GoPros. I have the GoPro1 and 3 (Silver). The older battery packs and batteries are cheaper if you can find them and are compatible. The only downside is they are silver, not black.
