It's has two star head tube and looks like a track bike. Also has a BSA crankset. Serial number on rear dropout is 95620.
Bike has original paint covered in surface rust with original decals still showing.
Any help would be good.

I've got the opportunity to purchase one (full Shimano 600 arabesque) but would like to know some more details about the frame if possible.
All it has is a sticker which says "Fully Lugged Frame, Hand Brazed to High Speed Touring Specifications"

BSA cranks dates it to most likely pre 80s but from that info it's difficult to say any more, i'm not really familiar with MS serials. Get some photos up and it will be easy to get a lot more info.Markc_ wrote:Hi, I bought a Malvern Star frame and fork set from a local market today and was after some info on it.

It has been some time since I have posted anything but I wanted to share this 2 star step through - garage sale for $25. I would love to know if she has all the orig. parts. mud guards are in the shed.... too lazy to strip them back. she was painted green all over even the rims so i decided to take her back to metal and just clear coat her except i undercoated the frame. frame is in great condition - no pitting! SN number is 00125 so not sure of age - any help on identifying the age and what is original is appreciated. also on the Malvern Star page

I've got a Malvern Star Sprint which has a stem that has 4 bolts on it. Would that be the original stem for a malvern star sprint?
I'm also keen to know what year the bike was produced. It has a serial number starting with S5. I think it was made in the 80s but would like to find out for sure.
Thanks

I only recently had a chance to do anything with it, mostly because I had picked it up just a couple days after my daughter was born so I've been busy with that.
I haven't done much other than strip all the gears and associated bits off. I rebuilt the rear rim with a coaster brake (my first wheel build), threw on a modern crank I had laying around and changed a few other small bits. It's not done, but I'm riding it around as is to get a feel for it. I haven't wrapped the bars yet as I'll be changing the front brake and lever, and the silly seat post clamp is just what I had laying around that fit.
Will be doing a city pub/coffee ride all day Sunday, so should have a good idea of how it works by the end of the day.
Any suggestions?
As acquired

Re Commando - that is a really awesome rebuild.
just a few questions, where do you get coaster brakes from these days, and why did you elect to replace the front centre-pull brake ?
