I'm guessing it's his first attempt at designing and building a bike. It doesn't look workable to me either, so this is destined to become "Mk I" .... :)

Cheers,
Graeme

Looks like a conventional bike that has been modified.

Perhaps he wanted his feet to clear the front wheel ?????

General bent question: Does your neck get tired?

General bent question: Does your neck get tired?
It really depends on how reclined you have the seat. I have a neck rest on mine that supports my head, should I choose to use it. However, I very rarely use it and my neck doesn't get tired, even though I only have one more hole left on the seat strut before I'm fully reclined.

That bloke looks like he would get a tired neck. He has no support there at all. His arms are also fully extended, so to turn a corner, he's going to have to bring his shoulder forward: that's not easy to do.

On the plus side - he does appear to be smiling! :)

Cheers,
Graeme

I am quite recline on my low racer and have not noticed any neck pain. I have done a century ride and total time on the bike was 3.5hrs and not had a problem. My upper body is well supported by the seat and I can slide forward and rest my neck on the top of the seat if needed.

Mike, a question for you: Does your neck get tired when you ride your bike? (Especially when on the drops for extended periods.)

Cheers,
Graeme

It has been fairly extensively modded. There is no bb anymore, the frame has been cut on the dt. It looks really uncomfortable. My swb has a fairly upright seat and I get an ache from holding me head forward. (the opposite to my df's)

I would have put the seat further forward and lower inside the gap. Seat could have been more upright and boom longer to clear front wheel some more.

That's gotta be a shooped up fake.

I see no beard

I think you need to look a little closer Shaun. He has a "flavour saver" and a tiny Goat-tee.

But you're right - it's not a REAL beard, and that's because he's not on a real 'bent. :)

Cheers,
Graeme

Ahhh, yes.
Agreed on all points.

It's a fair question, when I look at photos of me riding I can see that I have my body in a position that most would find very uncomfortable. However I have one of the strongest backs out there and I don't suffer any of the back/neck problems that other cyclists suffer.

I would say that for the typical cyclist that the extreme leaning forward position that I use would put more stress on the neck than the lying backwards position shown in the picture. The upright mountain bike position would put the least the strain on the neck.

On a positive note.

If he hits, or is hit by something he will no doubt go over the top of it! :P

I don't know why, but the more reclined my position the less strain on my neck. I know have my seat fully lowered and reclined and I am very comfortable with no neck pain and this without installing a headrest.
My seat is a carbon fibre European style seat.

Cheers
Brad
