Still haven't figured out if I need a helicopter to get it over the house, or if I should demolish the house.

He's learning to ride in a straight line :D

Yes, I have been following this thread. Yes, the sight of Mike in his shorts and his trench had the cat scrambling for the back door

Funny how digging holes is such an elemental activity. As a surveyor, I spent my working life digging holes (studied for 4 years at uni to do it :? ). But a trench? Only ever dug one trench, and that was done in the dark, in cyclonic downpours, at a scout Jamboree - we didn't want our tent to flood (it didn't :D ).

Well done Mike. I do appreciate the effort involved, even if it has been hidden behind a considerable amount of silliness.

Ahhh... I can relate to that. It was at a cadet camp and I had the the only tent that stayed dry inside. Apart from all those huge mosquitoes, it was actually quite nice. :D

And my cunning plan is to eventually get rid of all that green stuff, so I don't have to keep chopping it back. In my next life, I'm coming back as a Maltese.

D'yer reckon some of that green stuff would survive a trip south?

Bought a new mower 'bout this time last year, used it four times so far AND needed a dust mask

Last time I dug a trench I'd said that I'd never dig one again.

Nah, for sheer excavation power, nothing beats a beagle.

Had a mate who owned a beagle. This beagle had a favourite 'dig' beside a concrete path. One day, he noticed that the hole wasn't getting any bigger ... then the dog vanished. He stuck his head into the hole and there was a massive cavern under the path :D

Last time I dug a trench I had a rabbit and it was so interested in my trench digging it was standing in the trench between my legs. Who said rabbits were wimps.

Your grass is a funny color. I didn't know grass was green. It's a dark brown here and never needs mowing or trimming. After a while the wind blows it away and I'm left with sand.

Much easier to dig

It doesn't flamin' rain in Sydney, someone cuts a the guts out of the clouds and it torrents down. I know tropical rain is worse (I've lived in Brisbane too), but no weather beats Sydney's rain for sheer bastardry.

In my tender youth, after graduating from university, I loaded all my worldly goods into my bright red Mini van and headed off to Squidley to start a new life. It started raining at Katoomba ... and stopped a week later  True story, even the bit about my innocence. I'd never seen rain like it and while Brisbane (or 'Johreuselem' as it was called in those days) produced heavier rain, it never managed the intensity for the length of time that Squidley did, then and later.

Adelaide is blessed with a mild climate. It has all the features of a modern city with the sleepy feel of a large country town. It has the Adelaide Hills which give the fun and life of a mountain range without the outrageous stupidity of the Great Dividing Range (see, I did listen to my geography teacher in primary school). The Adelaide plains are flat and provide easy cycling while the hills offer challenges sufficient to produce Stuart O'Grady.
'tis a grand place to raise children and who can lay claim to being a bigger child than a fifty year old git with a love of bicycles :D

Richard

I think I should go to bed. I can't work out which is the primary screen on my computer, the left one or the right one and a little voice keeps telling me that this computer only has one screen

Have you been making fun of the Maltese community boy
No sir mr Dredd
Thats Judge Dredd to you boy, Judge Jury and Executioner
Making properties look like the do in the old country is very important for their cultural identity, thats why we introduced the death penality for making fun of it.
Lucky for you I've met my exectution quota for this week
