Clinchers. either 27x1/14" or 27x1"

There's no such thing as 27" singles. The term was used commonly, but they were always 700c

Well I'm after a 27" wheelset with a rear track hub that I can run clinchers on.

If worse comes to worse, I have an old 27" Araya front wheel with nice high flange hub and I'll just have to buy a single (as in one) rear 27" track wheel from ebay (i think wheelandsprocket have them). I'd like to have a matching wheelset though.

Are you after 27" to make it historically correct? If not then you should be fine with 700c which is 4mm smaller than 27"

Yeah. I was assuming it had 27" wheels on it orginally.

I have some 700cx28's on it at the moment, but they just seem big and bulky.
