Got this scratched in about 5 years ago:

Image

It's based on a Robert Williams painting called The Day Joe Smiley Ate the Bad Oyster, and basically symbolises death (riding an old fixed gear bike without foot retention whilst holding a stinky old plate of oysters). Who gives a !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! what other people think about it, I'd rather have some faded old tattoos than a judgemental attitude any day of the week!!

For me at least (bearing in mind this is someone with a phobia of needles talking) the pain is so horrific that it needs a truly life changing experience to justify getting one. I got my (not cycling related) tattoo after I recovered from depression, and even with the significance it had for me I was just barely able to get through it, it felt like a red hot chisel peeling the flesh off my bones.

Of course I am a big sissy though :) .

Hahah where on earth did you get it? I admit there are a couple of tender spots (also had my entire calf done down to achilles tendon) but it wasn't THAT bad was it? Well done on overcoming your obstacles and fear of needles!

Same spot as clownshoes' one, though mine is a lot smaller.

I wouldn't mind getting a bicycle related tattoo, I've got a few other tattoos already, but I see too many similar ones, mainly bells, cogs and wheels. How about something a little different? An exploded diagram of a headset? A bidon cage? A quick release skewer?

For my last one I took a number of pics to the artist and had three meetings with her to get my ideas across. For her part she came up with a bunch of designs and we finetuned it until we were both happy with the artwork before it was committed to flesh.

Depends on location methinks, IMO, a headset would make a great upper arm work.
Always something in this theme...

It would rip the pillowcase and cause problems when it came to helmet time. He couldn't head soccer balls and it would be a bugger if he headbutted you. :D

I give the guy 10/10 for creativity and sheer out there-ness. Never seen anything like it.
