Postby mick_tissa » Tue Apr 16, 2013 10:06 pm
Hi I have a the 2011 Sram force groupo, it is fitted with a compact chain ring set 50/34, I would like to upgrade the chain rings to the newer 2013 Sram force, does any one know if it is a simple change over?

The 2013 10-speed force chainrings are the old SRAM Red 'black' rings. It will be a straight swap. Just make sure you get the 110 mm Bolt circle diameter rings (i.e. 50/34 or 52/36).
The rings for 2013 11-speed force a very different and use a 'hidden bolt', I doubt these will fit the old spider.
Have you worn the old rings out? What don't you like about them?

I have damaged a couple of the chain ring teeth and essentially I liked the look of the newer chain rings. The Sram Force still works good as I cleaned and deburred the damaged area, but your advice is awesome as one of my cycling buddies has Sram Red Black.
I will let you know how I go. Cheers

I fitted a set of Sram Red Black compact chain rings......they fitted perfectly......all I had to do is adjust my front derailleur approx 2-3 mm. They work great and it has helped me greatly as we have been tackling more hills.....thanks fro your advice and help.....
