It can be ridden now. I want to add to it after the Xmas holidays some different cranks when all the shops open up again.
I also want to add some shifters for the brake levers - but I'm not quite sure the best way to go about adding those. I was thinking to use SW-R600 shifters, but was advised that the cable wouldn't reach the junction box.

Nicely done g-boaf. I have a brand new never fitted Rotor 3D+ Aero crankset for sale in the market place, which was fitted to the OE version of this very bike, if you were at all interested.g-boaf wrote:Cervelo P5 finished:

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on an S3 this weekend and I just have two quick questions.
1) Rotor Cranks or the Shimano? I'm leaning towards the Shimano crank as it just seems to suite the bike a little more than the Rotor crank. I'll be chucking a P2M power meter in there as well and it just seems to fill the crank out a little more.
2) Di2 Battery - from the Cervelo website, it seems the battery is mounted on the outside, but a couple pictures suggest the battery can be internal. Is this easy to do and re-charge? The LBS I'm going to be grabbing it from mention they'd have to order the bike from Adelaide, so I'm unsure if the internal mount is stock standard now?

Go for the internal battery setup if u can afford it... Much cleaner and nicer... The battery fits nicely in the seatpost. The charging is easily done thru a port on the front junction box...
I think DA Di2 has it as standard, and Ui2 external.
To convert the Ui2 to internal will cost around $300 to 400 online (battery 125$, junction box 100$ & charger 125$)

I guess I'm more of a fan of the Shimano look because it's closed off and slightly "cleaner" than the rotors.
I'll be going down the Ui2 so I'll need to get the internal done. I'll raise that with the LBS and see if they're capable of doing it.

The main issue on the R series was the dropout cracking or snapping off, but that was only the 2011 & some 2012 models with the vertically aligned hanger screws. The R series now have horizontal hanger screws...

It's a 2008 cervelo soloist team, with full ultegra 6600.
It was owned by a triathlete (gasp!) and set up as such with an ism saddle and aero saddle mount cages.
It also had a horrendously heavy ism over5 44cm bar and stem, and cheap xero training wheels.
I have to get a bike fit next week before I decide on the finishing kit.
I have ordered a fizik arione r5, and stuck some fsa 42cm bars and 110mm stem that I had lying around on plus my best wheels and Garmin.
I serviced the bike and trimmed all the cables to proper lengths, and will be going through and replacing all of the bolts on the seat post/collar/etc with stainless.
Current weight is 8.6kg with the ism saddle which weighs a ton, and the heavy bars/stem.
Once I get a decent bike fit I will change the components out for either deda zero 100 or zipp service course sl which will drop a couple hundred grams.
And once I sell my old bike I will replace the 6600 series ultegra with 6800, which will take another few hundred grams and the old ultegra will go on my commuter.
I'm looking into replacing the fork with a full carbon model layer down the road as well (the wolf fork weighs 500g as it has a cr-mo steerer tube) which will drop about 150g.
I'm not super into the weight weenie thing but I would like my best bike (and the one which I will race on) in the 7.2-7.8kg range.
Here's a terrible photo!
So glad to finally own something with "vroomen white design" written on it!
I reckon it would look amazing painted in a solid red with white decals like the t1/t4 track bikes..

I pity you with the ISM saddle. Horrible things they are!lunar_c wrote:This is my new bike, and I finally own a cervelo!

Really decent saddle is the Specialized Romin Pro, quite light and pretty comfortable.
A Zipp SL-70 Aero bar would suit that bike pretty well too:

I wouldn't repaint it, bike looks good as it is. If only you could get a fork painted up the same as the rest of the bike.
