Weekday bunch ride - Flemington
Postby Mat » Fri Jan 06, 2012 12:29 am
Looking for a morning bunch ride during the week and probably on a Saturday, departing from around the Flemington area.
I am travelling to Melbourne (from Perth) and want to do some riding whilst over there. I ride about 300ks a week right now averaging between 30-34 over most rides (50k+).
Happy to ride to other suburbs to meet up.
Cheers

I am based in the area and do a long ride on a Saturday morning and thinking about starting a medium ride on Tuesday mornings before work. I just commute to the city otherwise.ed muggles wrote:anyone still riding around this area? i have just moved to fleminton for the bayside suburbs and am looking for a few new training buddies

i would be interested in setting up local group to do a bit of training with.
is anyone interested?

I'd be keen on a weekday ride and/or weekend ride. I current do a lap of Beach Rd to Frankston/Mornington on the weekend but wouldn't mind something smaller during the week.

We ride every morning, leaving either from the Doutta Galla Hotel or from the western side of Ascot Vale railway station (The Crescent).
Mon, Wed, Fri leave the pub at 6am for a flat spin to Williamstown, usu back around 7.00am for coffee somewhere along Pin Oak.
Tues leaves the station at 6.00 for a rolling hills ride taking in Strathmore, Airport West, East Keilor and back for coffee in Moonee Ponds around 7.00
Thurs leaves the station at 6.00 and heads over to do a crit of the zoo, 5 laps, again finishing around 7 with coffee.
Saturday morning leaves the pub at 7.00 for a roll down Beach Rd to Mordialloc via Fisherman's bend, about 80km or so, finishing with coffee at Di Bella in Nth Melb. The old boys can take a while to warm up but we can average 37-38kph from St kilda to Mordy and back.
Sunday there's two options, one leaves at 6.30 from the pub - the Tour de Suburbs, heading over to Ivanhoe, Doncaster, Templestowe and coming back via Kew Boulie - and the 7.00am Handbagger's ride, which heads over to Ivanhoe but then turns back along Bell St to Pascoe Vale south before dropping down Melville Rd and running back into Carlton. Both rides finish with coffee at Brunetti (we all wear Brunetti jerseys for this one so we can snaffle a free coffee!)
Haven't tried any of the weekend rides yet, but the others are pretty good, especially at the moment now that there's some light in the mornings...
