No Flying Flag on this bent

So much for the anonymity of web forums.

Thanks for the praise.
That's my fourth 1,200km Audax in the past 4 years.

Had some issues with not being able to eat or drink in the early part of the ride to the point of almost abandoning, but struggled through and eventually came good with almost 500km to go.

Being able to put down a full meal of pasta made huge difference (of course) and I was suddenly seeing the other riders looking much worse for wear than me.

A quick turnover of about three hours on the last night put me on the road ahead of lots of riders and I pretty much stayed there for teh rest of the day into Airey's inlet finishing about 21:40 Thursday for a total time of 76h40 (my fastest).

The "Gun Riders" were mostly on high end carbon roadies and were carrying only minimal equipment. Most were quite accommodating except one dude who in typical roadie form muttered something along the lines of "getting that F'ing thing off the road" as I rolled past the bunch once again. This guy must have been the school bully when younger as he also gave me an elbow in the ribs for good measure at the Geelong control point which was in a 24 hour cafe.

Everyone who completes an Audax ride within the time limit is a winner.

Yay 'bents.

Seeing that many pedally machines on full song, bent or straight, must be a pretty awesome sight.

Congratulations.

Congratulations Poiter. A great effort. I can't even imagine doing a ride like that so you have my admiration.

As for those who want to be less than gentlemen. (Think the words starts with an A.) They are really not worth worrying about.

Wonder if you'll be at the next PAP?

All the best,

John Lewis

Congrats Poiter. Dunno how you do it! Afraid my body tends to give out with anything much over 100 k's! So all kudos to you!
Took my trike out today and did a hilly, windy, showery 90 k's. Got home and the body said, 'that's enuff'!
Not sure what I'll use on the Pyrennes Magic now.

And wow again1 4 x 1200's in 4 years? Super human effort!
I followed your trek while I was working and at home. would've loved to be there at Airey's to cheer you in!
Cheers!

Thanks John.

Where does the line "ordinary people doing extraordinary things" come from?
Seems fitting for Audax riders.

Already have a PAP in my collection.
Was thinking of an LEL next year.
