Left to right, M. Arnott, G. Bell, A. E. Pallott, Super Elliott agent, R.Buckley, H. Simpson, A. J. Blair.
Also G.W. Williams, Australian 1/2 Mile Championship on the Payneham Oval 1930-31, also holder of numerous other Championships, all won on his Super Elliott Cycle.

Jim Nestor riding an interesting example of an Elliotts cycle with 'twin E's' on the head tube and the round type adjustable stem.

Please note Nestors track cycle has a single front brake and also note the numerous records and achievements attained by him.

An original sales receipt of a Super Elliott cycle from 1950,
these were handed to buyers of new Elliott cycles. I have blanked the owners name. Im now the owner of this bike, it is in original condition although aged, it was a road/track, red and blue, oppy bars, monitor speedster brakes, brooks saddle, 5 pin williams cranks, colour matched wheels with flip flop rear fixed. frame numbe rof receipt matches bike.

Deane Whitehorn on his Elliott leading off, he was Pro Srint Champion, 1946 & 47, SA Track Champion of Champions, 1947-48.

Born 4-Nov, 1926, started riding 1936.

The only man in Australia to ride off scratch on track and road for two years.

This is one of my favourite photos... It epitomises all facets of the sport of cycling in the golden era...
In the background we see anxious spectators and classic cars following, in the fore a roughened yet handsome young chap riding it harsh and accepting an alloy flask from his passionate and enthusiastic girl at the time...the shadow says it all...

heres an image of a young Alex Christoff, he can be seen riding what looks to be an Elliott with a Normal "E" on the front rather than the gothic "E" , no front brake and track bars, from 1960

An official programme from 1937, it features the best riders of its time, these were Deane Toseland, Ted Roberts and Keith Thurgood.
125 miles of gruelling road, it mentions BSA components used on their cycles and riders are not allowed to carry food bags, a compulsory stop of 5mins must be taken and no outside assistance permitted.

Maybe for some tracks, but have a close look at those boards. They are lifting and warping at the ends. You only have to look at the waving in the line painted on the track to see that they are not very even. I think it had been a while since they had a drink of oil.

Left to right, unknown on Norwood Star, Clarry Hawke on Norwood Star, unknown on Norwood Star, unknown on BSA?, Frank 'Mick' Watson on Elliott, unknown on Elliott and Bert 'Bruin Bear' Holder on unknown. Bert was nicknamed as such for his massive size and shape.
Possibly Payneham track, SA, early 1930's.

Nice ads and pics SL, these are all great contributions and well worth documenting.
Here is a photo of several SA riders, mostly unknown, yet you can spot Phil Thomas and Deane Whitehorn. To the left of Deane is Jack Conyers with the big grin. All but one rider have Elliotts frames, one has Healing. Note two frames have brake holes in forks, yet these are all track bikes. White socks indicated amateurs.
I had met Phil prior to his death, - he was a very kind knowledgable gentleman and very polite. I have also met with Conyers son who kindly showed me numerous photos and scrapbooks of his fathers excellent achievements. Deane is still well and riding the vets races, - still as tough as ever, a very clever competitor... a true champion cyclist of all time.
