Mr Kneale received head injuries after being hit by a ute and knocked from his bike.
Police have been speaking to the driver of the white ute at the intersection of Dorothy and Hicks streets and have called for witnesses to the crash.

This is in my neighborhood and I consider both roads safe for cyclists even though they carry a large number of heavy vehicles.
As a truck driver, I would strongly advise not putting yourself at the front left corner of a large truck (bonneted or otherwise) as most have a large blind spot in this location. Unless the driver sees you approach, they will have no idea that your there.

Our hit-run laws were reviewed and toughened about 5 years ago following the Eugene McGee debacle in SA. I think that a hit-run causing death now is punishable with up to 10 years prison.Duck! wrote:Reports are that an arrest has been made. Hopefully the case is treated with the severity it deserves.
If the police can be f***ed to lay a charge. If the judge or jury can be f***ed to find them guilty. Then if the judges bother to even apply a penalty
Our legal system remains dominated and run by autocentric morons !!!

The boy, who had been riding without a helmet, reportedly underwent brain surgery in Royal Perth Hospital early on Friday after being transferred from Joondalup Health Campus, where he was taken following the incident on Thursday afternoon.
He later died.
Witnesses say boy was riding fast down a hill with no helmet and hit the side of a truck.
The crash occurred on the corner of Swavesey and Connolly Drive, Butler.

How horrific. I hope the injured pull through and that the investigation works out what went wrong.Thoglette wrote:Car and bike collide in Kununurra, leaving boy dead, dad and brother in hospitalABC Online wrote:A five-year-old boy has been struck by a car and killed while on a bike ride with his dad and brother in Kununurra in Western Australia.

'The 56-year-old man driving the car was not injured.'
Do they do it to remind motorists just how dangerous cyclists are to motorists?
