it's not really an option for me to contact the previous owner. I'll try the factory reset, or if that doesn't work hound Magellan to unlock it. I just don't get it as someone who is obviously a potential future customer, any half-clever business would not want to needlessly alienate me. there's no similar issue with Garmins.
