Bike damage? Is this a chip or frame crack?

Postby Cyclingjoeg » Mon Sep 04, 2017 7:31 pm

I posted this in the general discussion but thought this would be better suited.

Long story short my bike slipped out of my trainer and got a solid scrape of metal on metal, it looks fairly superficial but the main chip is a little deep (maybe 1mm) it's in what feels like a fairly solid, not hollow area too being at the join at the end of the chain stay.

Any thoughts or advice? See the link for the pics!

Thanks in advance!

That is only cosmetic. Nothing to worry about. :-)
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

I'd touch it up with some black nail polish (no seriously). I've tried it and works a treat (and you also soon forget about the trauma - I would of been just about on the floor crying!).

I touched up chips on an old steel frame with red nail polish. It's about the only time my wife has been interested in any bike maintenance/work - helping me choose the best match from her nail polish selection. :)
