I am looking to replace a mountain bike that was recently stolen and while watching ebay and gumtree etc. I saw Anaconda doing a good discount on one of their Fluid brand bikes. Is this as a good a deal as it seems discounted from $1400 to $500 ?

the bike I am replacing was a 12 year old Progear with Deore shifters and rear derailleur and I never venture onto anything too steep, technical or scary. I was only looking to spend around $200 for a used bike but if this is a good deal I will try and sweet talk the Minister of Finances.

Get on it. That's a pretty sweet deal.

Quite often the Fluid bikes are usually optimistic with their RRP allowing them to discount to what it is actually worth very easily. This one probably is to some extent (maybe $999-$1299 is a more realistic RRP). I suspect you'd have a hard time getting any other new bike with anything like those specs for $500.

Looks good, and not a massive stretch considering the warranty and knowing it hasn't been thrashed previously

Out of interest I went looking at brand name bikes with similar levels of running gear. A Trek Roscoe 7 was $1069 and a Giant was $1299. Fluid should be a little less as a 'store brand' rather than a well known bike brand. Probably run-out stock, but still good value.

Now the hard part, I will tell her that you have all given your approval which must count for something.
