G'day

Following on from the success of the 2008 Fit Gits on Bikes competition we are back in 2009.

There are some "rules" for 2009 ...

(1) Outside rides only please
(2) Prize winners can only be active members of the forum (i.e., joined the forums before July 1, 2009 and have at least 12 postings before July 1, 2009);
(3) Please play fair and log your rides regularly so your fellow competitors now what they are up against
(4) Prize winners journal on BikeJournal.com should be viewable by the public/other club members;
(5) Have fun
(6) Prize for the winner will a jersey as per the 2008 competition.

Oh do join in any time. You just need to sign up at BikeJournal.com and select Bicycle Network Australia as your Club.

Darn it, fresh meat means we old bastards need to work for it....... Not that I have a hope in hell of beating two particular cyclists who shall remain nameless.

I mainly use BJ for logging as a diary for myself, plus the competition doesn't hurt.

Me thinks it'll be a lot harder to finish in the top 10 this year. I'll just stick to what I've been doing and see where I end up. :)

Well alright, I'll tell the truth I know I won't finish in the top 3 but will work hard to stay in the top 10. 8) Gives me a reason to keep pushing myself. :D

Not looking good at this early stage but I have a full week of commuting to keep the k's up. :)

Hey guys I just joined up too. I joined mainly just to keep track of my own rides (I've previously never had any accurate idea of how far I travel each week/month/year) but it'll be interesting to see how we all compare :)

Just noticed that through the course of today I've dropped from 3rd to 8th. I'm going to have it pick it up a notch  .

Never tracked my km's for a year before, so I've just joined in on this, and logged the first ride for the year.

User name is listed only as "Burt", as the site doesn't allow spaces in their usernames.

As much as I love my SS bike, I think I'm going to have to get a proper roadie sorted asap for this.

just joined up. one noob question tho. by default, you enter speed, distance etc in miles. do i have to convert it to km everytime? or is there a way around it?

thanks

Hi Jay,

Look under your user profile, there should be an option to enter rides as kms.

Cheers,

Gary

Was just browsing through the club charts on the site and we are sitting in 4th. The club leading is 'The Chain Gang'. One of their riders already has 10000 kms this year. He must ride alot

That is a hick-up in the database. If you look at his journal he has only done about 20.80 miles in 2009.

I have not ridden since just before Christmas last year, but today saw me commute in - with the hot weather in Perth I decided to ride in and see what the arvo temp is like.
So I have my first 40km in.

If I do commute both ways I will be sitting in the top 10 by year end - I hope!

Skellibert on BJ by the way (DaveW was taken  )

Number 44 at the moment - that's what you get for being lazy so far.....

Glad I extended a "drop-in" commute to my office by 92km this morning (normally 27km, today 119km :D:D).

Bloody hot riding home the 27km between 11:30 and 12:30 today though.....

It's my 15 seconds of fame before I get smashed by TLL and Cavebear.

Hi All,

I've just joined as well and entered yeaterday's 21km cruise with the kids.

Most of my kms are commuting so hopefully this will keep me motivated to keep it up.

Cheers, Tim
