I've not heard anything official, so here's the comp for 2009 the Twizzle way The 2009 Rules (mainly stolen from last year ) 1. You can only claim one puncture if you have not ridden the bike before discovering the next puncture. 2. It has to be a flat to your bike, fixing someone elses flat doesn't count 3. Flat must of occurred between January 1st 2009 and December 31st 2009 inclusive 4. To be eligible for the distance Jerseys, you must travel >= 2,400km for the year to give the fairy ample opportunity to display her dislike. 5. To have punctures listed in this competition, your must be a forum member or an immediate family member who has been the subject of amusing/scary/blonde moment stories on this forum. Or have slipped me a $50. Jerseys Only three this year. The most flats regardless of kilometres travelled. The Green Jersey for least average kilometres between flats with total kilometres over 2,400 for the year. The Lapin Rouge tyres-of-steel jersey for the highest average kilometres between flats with total kilometres over 2,400k's for the year. +1 (sunday 4th)
Wore a hole in the inner tube thanks to big cut/hole in my rear tyre from a previous puncture. I did have a piece of rubber in there to prevent this happening but it must have come out. Anyway, took the opportunity to swap in my GP4000S too

Hi Twizzle, are you going to make up some rules for this game. Something different to last year, so to add some excitement

I'm just the caretaker at the moment - but if I get to make the rules I'm going to add a distance component, as the real measure of fairy unhappiness is k's between punctures. I think that's it's only fair to have a minimum in of 200km-per-month average for the distance jerseys - you have to give the fairy some opportunities!
- Yellow Jersey for Total Flats
- Yellow Jersey for least k's between flats with total k's >= 2,400km.
- Lapin Rouge for most k's between flats with total k's >= 2,400km.

+ 2 for me - and on the first day of the year too. I thought it would be a good idea to go out for a ride. When I got back, the rear felt a bit wobbly and on inspection, I ha d a rock the size of tasmania (and a similar shape too) stuck in the rear tyre. The second one came after I had fixed it and my patching job didn't hold, forcing me to change tubes and fix the offending patch some other time...
Lucky start to the year, really.

Keeping the double streak going, 2 for me. Nothing exciting for me, if I spotted the hole in the tyre and was able to line it I wouldn't have got the second one.

Thursday last week, copped a bit of glass in the front. That would be my first flat caused by a foreign object!

Don't forget everyone - you have to have ridden between flats. And don't forget to record starting k's for the year. And please put the total punctures for the year in your posts.

Great to see a distance component added this year. I think this will give the results a little more meaning.
You have a small typo in rule three (it's 2009)
Cheers

Hi everyone - in regards to K's, just note down your starting k's for the year in a diary or something so at the end of the year you can work out k's divided by flats for an yearly average. Probably doesn't hurt to put a running average in your posts as well so people can express surprise/disbelief at how far some people get before the fairy strikes.
I have my sights on the Black Jersey

I have deliberaty avoided the Black Cat threads for fear of jinxing myself, but after this morning I figure I am jinxed anyway. What happened you ask...?
Well how does three flats and a broken pump sound for a monday commute to work:
First flat was a few kilometres from home - standard glass in front tyre. No drama I figured, quick switch to my spare tube and off I went. Unfortunately, and I should have guessed this did not bode well (!) the pump was already playing up a bit and I could not get a really solid pressure. As a result my second flat came a few kilometres further on when I hit a bit of a pothole and got a nasty snake bite puncture. So, off with the wheel again, and this time I had to patch the tube pump it up (with the increasingly dodgy pump) and head off again, before....
Yes you guessed it a third flat tyre - although this time it was not really a puncture but a valve failure with the centre of the valve just blowing out! So, back to patching my original tube, but this time when I went to pump it up my pump finally gave up the ghost and just refused to work. Fortunately, I was not too far from work so I was able to walk the rest of the way.
So far it had been about 150 puncture free kilometres this year (one week worth of commuter ks) but now my average has suddenly becom a puncture per 50 kilometres or there about. Hope this is not an omen for the year ahead!
