Riding to work this morning and the rear goes flat. Unable to find the offending object in the dark and rain, so inflate the new tube and off I go. 4km later I'm patching the old tube and cursing a lot.
Still didn't find the offending object, but the pressure is still there, so who knows.

It isn't as bad as you think. The alarm goes off at 0500, and I'm out the door and on the bike by 0520. With the rain this morning, the sunrise was obscured so still relatively dark by 0600. Not pitch black, but dark enough to make finding the hole difficult.mikesbytes wrote:Kev, your hardcore mate. The words "morning" and "dark" in the same sentence in SummerKev365428 wrote:+2.

Anyway, how can you and Simon call me hardcore? Your always at the gym or riding track, and Simon NEVER gets off his bike.
You guys are hardcore, for sure.

It's OK, I've only been in the saddle for about 2 hrs 15 mins today . Only moderately hardcoreKev365428 wrote:Your always at the gym or riding track, and Simon NEVER gets off his bike.

Actually anyone who didn't look outside this morning and let the "just drive in today" demons prevent them from leaving a perfectly dry house to cycle to work deserves the hardcore label .

# 1: - Wheeled the bike out for this mornings commute, rear tyre flat again. Off with the tyre, check for offending object, nothing found. New tube, tyre back on, off I go.
# 2: - Paranoia sets in and I'm thinking the tyre is flat every minute or so. Stop to check a few times - rock hard. Cut across a off-ramp on the M5 and the rear slides out an inch or two. Yep, rear is flat again.
Found the culprit this time (wire). Patched the tube and pump away, but the tyre won't go above 40psi. Off with the tyre only to discover I'd patched just off to the side of the original hole, so it was still leaking.
Meanwhile a semi-trailer pulls up just in front of me with a shredded retread on the trailer. As the guys was checking the damage, I offered my mini-pump to him. He didn't see the funny side for some reason.

Kev at least you had the good sense to carry a repair kit, not like some other MCCC rider I know who was stranded 12k from home when his spare failedKev365428 wrote:+2.

Last night, something went thru the rear tyre, possilbly a nail. As I'm down to 13 spare tubes, I decided to patch the tube and put it back in. I patched the tyre too and now I'm out of patches.
This morning the same rear went flat and the problem was that the valve had ripped out from tube. I know dam well I didn't cause that when changing or pumping, it looks like the rubber has unglued itself from the valve stem.

Oooh! A challenge for the lead!
And +1 for me for 3 - went to ride home this arvo to find the front flat with a split in the side of the tube. Must have pinched it when it was installed... 950+km ago. And my average is now down to 351km/flat. Damn you, evil fairy

+2....bloody again
Head down, bum up in the pre-dawn light while climbing a smallish hill towards River Rd on the M5, when POW!!!
Hit a truckies tie-down ratchett and suffered a double (front/rear) pinch flat.
Two new tubes latter I'm on my way again.
I might have to petition the Admin's for a name change soon.
How's Killer HeadWind Mk II sound.

That sucks hard mate. How about just changing the 90210 number in your name to the numbers of punctures suffered. Won't be long until you hit 6 digits againKev365428 wrote:This is getting ridiculous.

Dear Kev365428 - you are obviously out of favour with the Puncture Fairy. Perhaps a sacrificial offering of tubes may allay her anger - I suggest a small barbecue involving metho, some tubes and a lighter. Perhaps under a full moon while dancing around the fire in lycra.... And don't forget to get some photos for the site

Not a puncture, though. I now know what happens when you run tubeless at too-low pressure. I hit the side lugs of the front tyre on a rock on the side of a washout when my son stopped dead right at the bottom of a rocky roll-off right in front of me.
BANG!
"Oh. So that's what happens."
Took about 10-15 mins to figure out how to remove the valve, clean the inside of the tyre of goo and fit the tube. It cut a rushed ride short but it was good to find out how to deal with a flat in a tubeless setup, and tyre and rim were undamaged.

1st one two weeks ago commuting home along the Coro Drive bike path the day the king tides washed all the sticks and stuff over the path, something went through my rear tyre.
Then 2 on Australia Day. Rode from Brisbane to Gatton as my kids were swimming in a carnival there. Tossed up whether to take one spare tube or two and (luckily) decided to chuck the second one in my pocket.
First flat just after Blacksoil, checking out some cows and enjoying being out of the City and... bang hit a rock resulting in a pinch flat.
Second one was in Gatton, don't know if I hit anything but ripped a 1.5cm hole in the sidewall of the tyre.
Nice road but not all that pleasant because there was a fair bit of traffic on the Warrigo Hwy. Pats on the back and thanks to all the truckies because they all moved over and gave me heaps of room when passing. Can't say the same for the majority of car drivers though.
