To the contrary. Track riders seemed to be most sensitive to rain. They are always the first to get off the track with that first drop of rain.Avanti22 wrote:Track racing is supposed to be an all weather sport...

In newcastle of course .... but all jokes aside its actually directly across from the broadmeadow horse track on chatham road, its the big metal gates with velodrome across the top in rusty metal letters.mikesbytes wrote:Where's Newcastle Velodrome?

Come on down to Tempe and I'll put a little water on the cote d'azure and let you ride on it. You'll realise very quickly when picking your sorry backside up off the deck why tracks and water don't mix.sogood wrote:To the contrary. Track riders seemed to be most sensitive to rain. Errr... I was just stating a fact, fully realizing the reason why trackies don't hang around on a wet track.Alex Simmons/RST wrote:Come on down to Tempe and I'll put a little water on the cote d'azure and let you ride on it. But if you are going to give me a CF Teschner to ride on, I'll even ride on the mid-field grass field if you so direct me to it.

They may even have a bike you can hire, like they do at a local bike shop here in Caboolture.
I have raced on dirt tracks at some Show grounds , around SEQ. on the track bike. That makes for interesting racing a fixed wheel and strapped in. You would be suprised how quick a dirt track used for trotting is.

They have training sessions on during the week, including one using road bikes on Wednesday nights. Please confirm with CCCCciaran wrote:If the banks at Newcastle spook you (and they may) come have a go at Adcock Park velodrome in West Gosford. It doesn't have a bank at all really, but the racing there will help you fine tune your racecraft before you tackle the steeper banks.

Gold coin donation and you need to have a CA license, or at the least a social training license (it's a club sanctioned training session)

Nope not abandoned, it gets alot of use I can assure you! Not just cyclists either, we turned up for track training on tuesday to find some guy shooting up in the stands - to be expected when its right across the road from housing commision But in all seriousness we race on wednesday night, And there are training sessions on tuesday morning & afternoon, thursday morning, and saturday morning. Plus individual sessions that myself and others organise.Saint Bastia wrote:Paid a visit to my olds in Swansea this weekend and thought i'd checkout the Newcastle Velo today.
