Booby traps on Hobart MTB tracks

I suspect there aren't many Tassie mountain bikers on this forum, and those that are probably already know about this, but can't hurt to post it here anyway.

There go my plans for night-time singletrack fun... Having had the less-than-pleasurable experience of hitting a chest-height strand of fencing wire at ~20Kmph (courtesy of the ACT government), I'm taking no risks. These traps absolutely have the potential to kill someone!

Probably aimed at kids on trail bikes, but that won't make much difference to the family who has to bury a mountain biker... :?

Be careful out there. Personally I wouldn't ride any tracks around Hobart without riding through at walking-pace first to check that it's safe at present.

No worries - has anyone heard anything more? The Mercury seems to have dropped the story, but that could just be because they needed the front page for a story about Princess Mary farting or a missing dog...
