Broken Hill to Narrabri, Any tips?

Postby Recycler » Thu Jan 24, 2008 7:55 pm

With two mates we are planning a recumbent trip starting at Broken Hill via Bourke, Brewarrina, Walgett, Lighting Ridge,Collarenebri, Burren Junction and finish at Narrabri. We will take a car and tralier , take turns driving. Leaving this April 2008. Any information will be a great help! Leigh, Bill and Bob.

This should be an easy one...
never had a back up car before...
never been able to take more then one bike before ether...
Which bikes to take?
Have to be the recumbent and one other...

hey recycler,

did you ever do that Broken Hill trip. I am planning Broken Hill to Parkes via Menindee and Ivanhoe.

Your route sounds interesting. I'd be interested to hear your travel notes.

The " recycler" is in India at the moment....

but Yeah we did do that trip.... was very differant to any I'd done before with a back up car.... more like a laid back sightseeing tour with a lot of bikeing but all flat and no stuff on the back.
Fun

I'm off next Saturday heading north to Toowoomba then down the inland vir Texus and around to back home in Woolgoolga [about 1500ks] Will go alone this time with no back up.... which I like
This will be the first time in 10years I'll be riding an upright bike and not the recumbent.... I was in the bike shop last week and their was a 2nd hand Moulton that I just had to have {now these 15 bikes in my shed ] ...so 20inch wheels and full suspention and it's a faster bike then I would of thought so will be interesting to see if it leads me away from the recumbents,

Come Spring 'We' plan one from Kosiosko to the sea off road [so that'll be MTB one}

This sort of trip would be more enjoyable with the sag wagon carrying the heavy gear. My fully loaded self-support touring rig weighed over 40 kg's. Not fun trying to get that moving on the road.
