Bike Journal for Dummies

Postby pickle » Wed Apr 01, 2009 6:17 pm

Hi all. I've seen a lot of people on here using Bike Journal and thought I would give it a go. I was wondering if someone could help with a few problems I'm having.

Firstly, I have no idea how to change from miles into km. I thought this would be simple, I'm probably missing something somewhere.

Secondly, in the little how-far-I've-ridden-ometer at the bottom of some posts there is a target distance that one would like to meet, as well as the actual distance and what distance you should be at currently in order to make your target distance. How would I input a target distance into bikejournal? And how do I setup up an HFIRometer in the footer?

Thanks :)

G'day pickle, to change miles to km, go to Riders -> edit my profile. Under "Member Options" you can select "metric" which does the trick. From there you can also enter your "Distance Goal for 2009". For the image graph in the signature, I have written a script which generates the image. First you need to join the BNA club, then let me know what your bikejournal username is and I'll add your username to the script so you can use it too.

Hi Phillip, thanks for the help, everything is now working! I'm now joined up with BNA club, my username is pickle.

Thats one nice little script you've written there! Good work :)

Can you let me know your goal for the year? Need it for the script. If you've already entered it in bikejournal, it must still be private.

Ok, you can add the image to your signature using this:

Code: Select all

G'day

Thread hijack. Philip is it possible to amend the size of the image? With the new forum format it is cutting of the right hand side of the image, even when I am displaying at around 1400 x something.

Regards
Andrew

Hmm yeah I just tried changing to the "prosilver Special Edition" and because of the smaller fixed width of the page I'm seeing that too. With the other two styles it seems fine at 1280x1024. Are you using the "prosilver Special Edition" style?

I'll see if I can come up with a solution.

The length of the jpg may change depending how many digits in the riders target and actual klms? May be better to change Prosilver Special Ed to variable width format.

G'day Philip

Yes, using the Prosilver special edition. That explains the issue with images as well.

I've just made the whole image smaller (it's fixed width, the size of the numbers wont affect it) by decreasing the font size. Hopefully it's still readable

+1, thanks Philip. Looks better IMO (and not just because I can see the whole picture again ;-)).
