Charlie Hamilton covered 11,741 miles in six months

Back in 2004, a cycling baseball enthusiast named Charlie Hamilton decided he was going to try to attend a baseball game in all 30 Major League ballparks in the United States.

He passed through my area on his way to Miami, FL, and we hooked up over an Easter weekend.

Since that time, we've been through five hurricanes, the birth of our first grandson and my retirement. (Those things are not necessarily related.)

I was surprised to get an email from Charlie this week thanking us for our hospitality and catching up with what's going on in his life.

It was fun going back over his journal and looking at pictures of him. Here's an account of our meeting.

I have to admit that I never thought he'd make it. We met him on the first leg and he was really suffering.
