What does NOS mean?

Postby Aushiker » Sat Jun 30, 2007 9:59 am

G'day

I have seen a reference or two to "NOS. " The latest popping up in a ebay auction. Can someone kindly explain what it means?

Thanks
Andrew

NOS - New Old Stock - it means the thing's old but unused, sometimes still in the original packet.

There was a motorbike shop in the country NSW that tarted up some boxes of rubber bands and sold them as 'power bands' - people actually bought them

Richard

for the unitiated, the 'power band' of an engine is the rev range when you get a large increase in the power the engine produces. In the old two strokes of the era, the engine was typically flat until you hit the 'power band' where the thing took off like a scared cat.

Sometime new old stock comes with a much 'newer' price tag.
