You know you are an Australian Cycle tourist when:
The TDF is on and everyone is watching it except you because you are trying to calculate how much stuff will fit into the panniers;
You calculate how far somewhere is by how many days is takes to ride there;
Your bike is so heavy that when it falls over on it's own accord, it leaves a dent in the bitumen;
You notice how two road trains approaching from opposite directions will always pass on the exact point in the road where you are;
Cars always slow down on the highway to look at the weird vehicle moving along;
That racer that laughs at you as he overtakes you on an uphill gets laughed back at, as you pass him as you scream down the other side of the hill, and you're not even pedalling (You know with all that weight on, that the brake pads will melt anyway if you try to slow down);
You know where every potable water supply is in a 1,000 km radius of your house;
You are never in a rush to get anywhere;
You can ride all day and not get anywhere, and
You can ride out and admire the wildflowers, and if you have had enough, you can set up camp and sleep on them
