You know you have lost perspective when...

Postby casual_cyclist » Fri Jun 26, 2009 12:52 pm

The rules are simple:
1. must be cycling related
2. you must have done it (no postings for third parties please) :D

You know you have lost perspective when...

* you have not completed your next long ride but you are already planning the one after that! (n+1 for rides)
* you buy shoes which cost more than your bike
* you spend your lunch hour browsing online cycling stores even though you know you have enough cycling gear!

• your best bike costs 5 x more than your car

• you get steamed up because the significant credit card transaction at a US webstore gets SNAFU'd and now your new saddle, new tyres, new cassette, chain etc etc won't get here til NEXT week

• your new home extension contains a dedicated bike room.

Nope, dunno what you mean

You mentally add up the things around the house that you might be able to sell online to buy another part, or bike, or both.

Then you realise you'll get about $40 and likely be out of pocket for postage.

You spend a years worth of savings on a bike tour and not have enough money left over for spending money (ie food).

You train for 9 months for the 5 days of said bike tour.

You seriously consider taking 6kgs of clothes and 14kgs of bike and associated clothing/equipment for a 4 week holiday.

You spend all your hours at work on this bicycle forum, instead of finishing that really inportant project for the boss. :)

- all your walking around clothes are tatty and old but your cycling kit is pristine.
- Your cheapest bike has more expensive tyres on it that your wifes car.
- Your expensive bike is more valuable than all your cars combined.
- your drivers license is a picture of you in your cycling jersey.
- you blew last months download limit frantically chasing live Giro footage on the web.

- you've lost 8kg and haven't bought new pants for work cause you spent all your money on your bike
- you dream of your bike
- your friends who don't ride are feeling rather neglected
- you begin to look into sports that could possibly improve your cycling ability
- your account lectures you about what you spent on cycling for the financial year

- you spend your lunch hour going from newsagency to newsagency trying to find Ride's Tour De France guide and then realise a) you haven't had lunch and b) you're not going to get back to work in time cause you've walked to bloody far...

You choose to do the lunges on WiiFit as they will help your cycling and ignore the easy exercises :(
Your good bike lives in the lounge room and your bad bikes live in the spare room. There is no cycling related stuff in the shed/garage.

- your workmates think you're crazy for cycling in winter
- but you think they're odd because of their irrational fear of getting a little wet or cold
- you arced up when they suggested you park your bike outside when there's a perfectly good space in the corner of the office
- the bike was soaking wet at the time and dripping everywhere

Whilst waiting at an intersection(in a car) you simultaneously see a hot chick and a group ride by,and all you can do is ogle the bikes and pass on the girl.

Hahha, I can definitely relate to this. I always check the weather forecast for the week before washing my bike.

you misunderstood...I mean the chick is just walking across that way and the bikes are passing the other way. It's a split decision in favour of the bikes.

* You ride 2,737 km in December to win the BNA BJ comp. jersey and then feel guilty for taking it away from a snow bound, ill rider residing in France.
* You have in stock a spare part (for 3 different bike types) for every conceivable bike part that you may have to replace for the next few years.
* You consider the possibility of breaking the Australian Audax Oppy 24hr trial team record distance of 780km with a small group of fellow riders.

You're standing next to a bloke and you quietly look downwards to see whats between his legs.

I'm talking about at the lights and and checking out other bikes so my current bike doesn't find out and get jealous.
