PS. the solid tyres feel good on the road, did a couple of Ks today. Now I just need to build up my strength a bit for those hills.

Began life at 86 kg, currently at 36 kg. Powered via two Milwaukee 28v cordless drill batteries. An absolute blast to ride.

I have an electric hub motor but unsure as to how to wire it up.

If you have these wires, not a red/black, then you need a 3 phase controller. There are effectively 3 windings inside the hub motor which have to be activated in the correct sequence and only when the rotor is in the correct position relative to a whole bunch of internal magnets. So the thick set of wires are for the drive and the thin wires of similar colour are for the internal sensor that indicates where the rotor is relative to the rim. The controller uses the sensor wires to determine which winding to drive.Drifter wrote:Lemmi,

Most 3-phase controllers will work OK, but some provide better torque than others, I've found. Your local e-bike shop may be able to help you with the appropriate parts.

to connect the battery but there is something missing, like a junction box ,possibly inside a headlight unit. I don't know
if is 24V or 36V and there is a plug with 9 wires that goes nowhere, possibly for sensors , lights etc. If I connect a battery,
it might even work, but I wanted to be sure before doing that.

Depends, they might go to the controller or they might go to the hall effect throttle. As mentioned, endless-sphere will shed light.Drifter wrote:Lemmi,
