I'm with Gumby, stay away for a while yet. The track was just described to me as "the wettest seen in 8 years".

Standing water still in lots of areas. Very boggy in others. I live about 300m from the 19th Hole trailhead, and despite it not having rained for a week it is still very slushy on the nature strips in most streets. Heaven knows what the trail proper is like - I've only walked parts of it. The guys at Bike Addiction have all elected to not ride the Dam because "It's not the right thing to do".

Try Red Hill.

Thats fine, as much as I miss the Dam I thought it would still be bad and gave it a miss today. I ended up riding from Olympic Park to the Lake Parammatta track and back (got lost abit too). Good 40kms on the mtb - I'm happy.

Is the Dam still closed? Is it published on a website somewhere?

http://nobmob.com usually posts Manly Dam trail status notices when they are received from Manly Dam rangers.

However, we have a BIG problem with people not respecting the closures.

THIS was received from them in relation to the trail being reopened:

The mountain bike trail has been reopened. We were extremely disappointed with the level of non-compliance with the mountain bike trail closure. This was a particular problem on Sunday, with Rangers having to speak to over 50 riders on the trail. This was despite 17 trail closure signs along the trail, physical closure of the trail with a slip-rail gate, over a thousand emails alerts being sent, notifications of trail closure on local mountain bike clubs webpages and notifications on Council’s Manly Dam webpage. The Manly Dam mountain bike trail is only closed when riding will result in significant damage to the trail surface, and trail closures are kept to a minimum. The growing level on non-compliance with trail closures is unacceptable and we need some impetus from the mountain bike community to turn this attitude around.
