Tip: PM (Private Message) is still in Outbox

Postby AUbicycles » Mon Jul 27, 2009 6:18 pm

Quite simply, this is fine and it is not broken.

When you send a message is it is moved to your outbox and remains their until the receivee has actually opened and read it - which is a good way to check the status. Once read, it moves to your sent box.

Additionally, you can edit something you've sent if it is still in your Outbox. For instance, if you have a detail wrong or you want to retract that insult, it's still possible while it sits in your Outbox.

I wish emails had that feature ... :(

Cheers,
Graeme

A small addition to this tip... a super tip if you may.

If your own inbox is full (100%) then you won't be able to see new messages. You can save old messages (eg, csv or xml format) then delete the ones you don't want. You then have to 'release messages on hold' and can then view all new incoming PM's.

Not quite the same, but with some email programs (e.g., Outlook, Eudora) you can put a delay on the sending of emails. For example at work, I have a 1/2 hour delay on my emails, which allows for any further editing if desired. It also be easily over riden when necessary.

Thanks for the tip Christopher. I find my inbox gets full pretty quickly if I am not on top of it.
