For those that are interested, the 4th ride in the 5 Ride Series (The Mini slam is 1/2 the distance of the Grand Slam) is on the 12th August.
The route starts at Echunga and heads through Mylor, Aldgate, Lenswood, Woodside, Inverbrackie, near Nairne, skirts Mt Barker, Flaxley and back to Echunga.
The Grand Slam then ads a loop through Meadows, Strathalbyn, Woodchester, Wistow and back to Echunga again.
I have loaded the draft copy of the route into Bikely for those that are interested.
I'll be there for the Mini Slam
The entry fee is $44 for non Bike SA members, and $29 for Bike SA members.

Anyone else interested ?

Well, the form has been filled in and posted as of today
Now the big thing to do is get over the lower back fun that the chiro is "helping" me with and change the cassettes around on the wheelsets, and fit the 38T chainring when it arrives in time (hopefully ....)
Some practice in the form of hills is coming on Sunday with a ride to Glenelg to meet up with some mates, then head up Anzac Hwy & Cross Rds fot the peaks of Mt Lofty. A vertical climb of about 650m in total.
First serious hill in quite some time, and the knee is good !!!
On the Mini Slam route, there is a bugger of a climb from Mylor to Aldgate, and then a series of climbs from Bridgewater to Forest Range, and then another from Inverbrackie to Hay Valley, and bugger me if there ain't a few more in between.
That 38T chainring better arrive !!!!

As long as you supply the cash, anything is possible ....

Get over it!
Here's the last 9 km of last Saturday's race
OK, I did have to get off and walk a bit, but that's not the point.
I must be getting more positive about climbing - I wish I could join you on the 14th.

So.
That is only a 500m climb over 8km, giving an average gradient of 5.5%
I guess it depends on what happened previously. With the Mini slam route, the hils aren't too big, just lots of them. The steepness looks worse than it is. But I guess I'll find out in a few weeks time ....

The weather seems to be against us riders at the moment.
A brief bit of spring weather has now turned back into winter with more wet days coming
Hopefully it will be at least dry for the ride. 72km of rain & wetness is not a good idea of fun things to do on a Sunday morning ......

Forecast is for a shower or two, min of 7 deg and max of 16 deg.
Let's hope the showers are after the ride ......
