Maybe turn this into a general MTB section. I think limiting it to tracks / rides / tours is quite limiting.
I'd think you would be hard pressed to find too many posts in here. Then I guess the general section is where all the activity is and threads about general MTB would be better served there.
Hi Guys
no it's not the conspiracy you think. The old forum was actually moved and renamed to become Press Releases - Cycling Events. The MTB events section was a little quite (maybe because of farkin?) and the mods were working out the best way to deal with commercial posts which were appearing to promote events. As the MTB events section was predominently filled with press style event annoucements it was moved and renamed to suit all cycling events. As many of you who have been with the forum a long time know, suggestions for the forum are welcome. If you feel there is a need for a specific topic we (mods) look int it and most of the time will set up the forum (hence retro, recumbents, fixed gear and low rider topics of more recent times). So, to wrap it up, if you have a good idea then let me know. Cheers Christopher
I agree with THM - rename this forum to "Mountain Bikes" instead of the current name. It's the only forum dealing with MTBs on this site and the name misleads people into thinking we only want to discuss tracks, rides or tours (none of which interest me as much as the technical questions we seem to answer more often anyway).
Cheers, Graeme Think outside the double triangle.

G'day
I would agree with MountGower's suggestion. Does not seem there is anywhere to discuss "mountain biking" or mountain bikes now. Given the other forums for different types of bikes, a mountain bike forum would be consistent. Regards Andrew
Still no movement on this issue?

. And you're surprised? Tell the boss man what you want, then support it when it happens. It's as simple as that. Richard who has forgotten what went on earlier, but that's the way the system works. BTW, da Boss Man is a moutain biker himself I had a good bike ... so I fixed it
Well I can think of one thread in particular which caused some confusion this week - the one about squealing brakes. At least one respected member of the forum missed the fact that we were talking about discs. Common on MTBs, not so on road bikes .....
Had the thread been started in the MTB forum, the confusion would have been less likely. Chris, can we please have this forum rolled into the "Serious Biking" forum, or at the very least, renamed to "Mountain Bikes"? Cheers, Graeme Think outside the double triangle.

A while back I read this thread where this guy was making his mountain bike faster and faster on the road.
Once he had finished, the bike was completely useless for off road use. I've got stuff on ebay
Yes please, Richard can you oblige? Maybe we're not "serious bikers" 'cos we're having too much fun to be serious? Shaun ...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

Yer too flamin' mad to be considered 'serious'
I don't know if a full shift is possible. I mean, it should be in theory, but I've got to work out how to do it and me being a bear of tiny brain, it might wind up just being a change of forum names. I'm not going to attempt anything tonight and I'll be like a cat with two mice tomorrow (kid's birthday parties and soccer matches - single parenting is fun but you've got to do it all yourself). If Christopher logs on tonight, he may do something, if not, I'll try to sort things in the next couple of days. Richard I had a good bike ... so I fixed it
Hurry Richard - the MTB riders are revolting!

Just a dumb suggestion but why not change the name of this forum, thread whatever it is called and leave it in the MTB section? Seems this would be the a simple solution and then if more fora are needed they can be added to the the MTB section that already exists.
Then sometimes the "simple" solutions are really dumb ones ... so ignore as you wish. I can already think of reasons against this idea ... oh well. Regards Andrew
Oh Richard - you're my hero!!!!
Thanks Think outside the double triangle.

Nice one Richard, thanks.
