Footpath Racers Do Dirt!
Postby leximack » Wed Dec 02, 2009 11:57 am
Myself, Spiz and Keith visit the dirt once or twice a month, usually Fred Caterson Reserve or Yarramundi, sometimes further out to Manly Dam or the Blue Mountains, usually these are social rides but we also get out and do the odd race here and there also.
Mods: hope this can stay in the NSW section as i dont think many of the guys visit the MTB only section, hope this is OK

Yarramundi sounds great, I will have to replace the slicks on my so called Mountain bike with slightly more grippy tiresleximack wrote:Plan also to be at yarramundi on Saturday 12th December from 7am - TBC
The aliminium angle iron as a rear shock absorber replacement will have to stay

The track is located on Hawkesbury Rd, Yarramundi
Here is a loop of the circuit and the location map also
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/2439806
There is many tracks there so a lap can be anywhere from 6-10km long. We pass the start location at the midway point to the lap and also at the end so you can stay for as little or as long as you want and do as many laps as you want.
I think last time we did 2 or 3 laps, but the heat may play a big part as to how long we stay.

I think even 7am will be a challenge. But any later will mean it may be too hot though.
Lets confirm later in the week

Couldn't stay for too long due to work but I had a blast..
About time the MTB got some use.. Last time i rode a track like that was at Manly with my newish Apollo Alpine back then.. Thats over 10 years ago.
We took of just after 7 and got back at the carpark at 9ish.. my ODO was just over 10kms...
Thats hard work. Hats of to your guys that do 24h MTB races..

+1 It certainly was fun, but Mountain Biking is a LOT of hard work Swapping between exhilaration and exhaustion every 100 metres.eon wrote:awesome ride guys... Ehly
Here are some pictures to prove that we didn't sleep in
Keith arrived, hit a rock after 500m, bent his front wheel and left. (Bad luck Keith, see you next time)
Ehly taking a breather
Too much pressure???
Short rest stop...
