Indoorcycling, this is something I had never heard of... and I thought it was kind of impressive (in an odd way)

A very detailed video series for experienced cyclists :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyz5d3entBw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGYngjxJP1I

Some awesome tips on :
- Dietary requirements on the road (beer, stout, or cider ?)
- How to climb hills (by walking)
- Dressing appropriately for all weather conditions (a tie for sunny conditions, but dont forget the scarf)
- Handling peak hour traffic congestion (what traffic ?)
- Pipe or cigarette ? Which is the best option for a cyclist ?

Looks like great fun actually .. but kind of sad to see just how much things have changed over such a short period of time.

Amazing video - home made DIY hack of a bike trainer to create a virtual reality display using google street maps.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdWwtApn6aI

This guy manages to hack a bike trainer, hook the feed from a bike computer sensor into a serial cable, feed that into a linux based laptop where he has written his own server, which also reads a stream of data from an accelerometer in a pair of VR glasses - all of which generates a pile of javascript to feed into google street view ... and then put the image back on the glasses.

A good hack !

More details on the above hack here :

Including bill of materials, documention, and GPL'ed code.

Has some good plans for future expansion, including virtual races with other users across the internet !! Awesome idea.

[mod edit]Link removed. Please keep the videos cycling related in this thread. Other cool videos should go in a thread in the Halfway Cafe.

If this video had significant cycling content which I missed let me know and I can put it back.

Thanks
Andrew[/mod edit]

There are dozens of video's on here that are nothing to do with cycling...it doesn't say "Post youtube cycling videos here!" does it!.

Hi

A short one for the MTB fans and in fitting with the sub-forum description: "open topic, for anything cycling related."
