Stripping down Weinmann 500 calipers

I think I can say that I have worked on a fair few Weinmann side-pulls, stripping and rebuilding them, but they're all earlier ones with a nut at the front and a "Weinmann" marked washer underneath.

What I am trying to work on now is another pair of black 500s, with quick-release lever at the housing side. Instead of a nut it has the black plastic knurled cylinder instead with a thin hexagonal pin in the middle. I cannnot figure out how to strip it down. Any advice?

Hmm, I've seen them, though never played with them. I just assumed the plastic cylinder turned off like a nut. It doesn't lever off to expose a nut does it?

The knurled plastics cylinder at the front just turns around, held down by the fastener which holds the whole thing together; I think it is some sort of a nut turned by the thin hexagonal shaft in the middle. A design which prevents them being messed with by those who do not know what they are doing, but also prevents those who know what they are doing to service them.
