The local Chemist had a laugh when I turned up on my bike wearing a Vic Bitter t-shirt. We both agreed I looked like a bogan who lost his licence.....it got funnier when she gave me the bottle of Hydralyte I bought in a paper bag.....so there I was riding home in sandals, boardies, VB t-shirt and a bottle in a brown paper bag....noice :D

"Beauty and the Bike" - short on Youtube

I'd be interested to see the full-length film. It is a real problem with getting the ladies onto bicycles. Women make up a real minority of cyclists on the road, and it would be great to make cycling appeal to women.

Another real problem is that the "Dutch bicycle" (traditional roadster) these days is incredibly expensive. Cheap and nasty MTB's which no-one really likes to ride are what most people receive as their introduction to cycling, and it's hardly appealing to me, let along the ladies.

Hearing the ideas and actions of Victoria.... she is a true cycling hero. I wish her every success in the Commonwealth Games.

(Can we convince her to migrate to Australia - Melbourne in particular?)

Mrs. V&N...

Image

She wasn’t wearing a helmet because she was comparing the size of our friend Handsome James’ bike to her track bike, she wasn't riding anywhere. Well not far.

PS: I love this photo.

The lady who operates the lovelybike blog has test-ridden the Raleigh Twenty:

I was given a pleasant surprise when one of the first comments was a recommendation to my website, by another blogger, who rides a Raleigh Twenty too!
