Component upgrades at LBS?

Postby Cooter » Mon Jan 11, 2010 5:40 pm

How amenable are local bike shops at upgrading components eg. derailleurs, tyres, brakes, seats etc. at time of sale?

What are peoples experiences with this, particularly around Perth?

Thanks.

When I bought my Cannondale Six Carbon 6, it had 105 spec and some crappy wheels. I took it home with full Ultegra apart from FD of Dura-Ace, and the wheelset upgraded to Mavic Krysium Elites. Good thumbs up to Glen Parker South for doing that.

When I bought my Six Carbon, I had the Tektro brakes swapped out for Shimano Ultegras, and have now replaced the crappy FSA BB30 set up with standard bearings and Ultegra 6700 crankset.

Thank you for the replies.

BigVin, which shop did your upgrades for you?

Anyone else have experience with shops that will do this?

All shops will do this if they have the parts on hand (more $$ for them)

Cooter - KD Cycles in Rockingham did the brakes, and Garland Cycleworks did the cranks.

Hi

That is great and if you are happy with them I think you should keep using them. However, it does not change Durx's experience.

Cheers
