Check out their other 'unrestored' items

Wonder if the bottom has fallen out of the '70's ladies bike with cane front basket' market which SVB specialised in not so long ago ?

I wonder if they did what most people did over the break and took holidays? I am sure they needed to given the amount they sold just before christmas.

He's dreamin!
Someone should pour icey water over his head and get him out of bed.
There's strange activity going on with that seller. Has anyone had dealings with him? He put bids on my http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.d ... 0308534156 skidstar yesterday to drive up the price/value of his 3 skidstars for sale - he has three of them on offer now- see one below
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Vintage-Malvern- ... 2a044f869b

I knew something was wrong when I saw that my skidstar 35030853415 had jumped from $82 to $600 with 5 days to go, so when I discovered that coolcat-88 and hotdog791 were the same person or at least related I had to cancel all bids back down to $82 and have reported the seller/bidder to ebay trust and safety.

I looked carefully at the two ebay user accounts (coolcat-88 and hotdog791) and found the evidence that he's the same seller or at least related - check the picture background - see seller hotdog791 item number 230412203908 here:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 3D1&_rdc=1 notice the back ground, white with concrete floor and dirty dusty skirting boards.. and here also http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 3D1&_rdc=1

Then look here at coolcat-88 item number 180460895049 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 3D1&_rdc=1 a dirty dusty skirting board, white wall and concrete floor, ok could be possible that others out there have the same/similar backgrounds but for both to be bidding on the same item -be from the same city, sell bikes, with similar grammar patterns in listings - not likely.

If any doubt about backgrounds see here's another one- coolcat-88 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Vintage-Malvern- ... 2a044fdeb3

hotdog791 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DBR-Diamondback- ... 35a6a679cf
Just thought I should warn forum members of the above seller as he used both user names to bid on my skidstar (I have cancelled his bids now)...

Just mucked my listing up BIG TIME
p.s sorry don't know how to shorten the url address links?

he should have his account canceled, both of them.
we know that alot of people bid on there own stuff. but interfering with some one else's auction is really dirty

Sorry to hear about that BTG71. My experience is that nothing happens when you report a dodgy seller. I reported an Italian Ébay seller who had something like 5 accounts going at once. I had bought an item from him, which was never shipped. I bought the same item from him again, not knowing it was the same bloke using a different account. I had sent something like 10 or more e-mails to the guy at the first account, and not heard anything back from him in relation to my lost item, but then when I thought I'd bought another item from another seller, the invoice came from the same e-mail account as the one I had not had a response from. Needless to say I did not pay, and I had the unpaid item strike removed, but that's all Ébay did. They were not concerned with this seller running so many accounts, despite my proof of it. He still runs something like 10 accounts from what I can see. Since he is high volume (=high profit to Ébay), they turn a blind eye.

I would suggest putting something in your listing which does not name the seller, but warns buyers to be cautious of certain unscrupulous sellers who come from his town.

Two of the stickers pretty clearly state "Technotrat" - might have gone under a Europa sticker originally. Would scrub up nicely for the asking price.

but really, that's rubbish. We get none of it because the choices are illusory.

Interesting that this Skidstar of coolcat-88's 'sold' for $620, and yet this one didn't get a single bid at $488, and has been relisted starting at $399

I'm not saying that there's not some nefarious activity at hand, but there are some pretty obvious differences in the condition/originality of those 3 bikes.

I think that the above price is ok so far for that bike, it's more complete and seems in very good original condition, with light, good seat, good original paint, correct bars, nice wheels with no rust anywhere. It's in Melbourne too. This seller has several user names and his "gradfathers collection" never seems to run out  but it's still a good clean original bike...

I agree, but for a $600 starting price they could have tried a little harder with the listing. A few more photos wouldn't have gone astray...

Maybe it's reverse psychology though, tell me you haven't bought a bike on ebay hoping for it to be better than pic....I know I have..

Wow, the value of my 2 skidstars is more than I thought. ;)

Seriously though, those speedo light combos are not common and one sold last year from memory for just over $300. Taking that and the saddle into account, the price isnt too bad. Not what I would spend, but then if I only wanted just one bike and didnt want to go to the trouble of sourcing parts, repainting etc, then that one would be worth the expenditure.

Since I am well known on this great site, as the subject "faux pas" toff.
And as we are targetting E-bay odd listing players,
Had to thrown this one in, for it's "faux pas" and the bidding...

A Perth Lad, so I had to put a watch on this one, got a smile out of it, and
had to see where it goes... :)

Or is it just me? :?

Whats strange about this listing? It's a handbuilt Japanese track frame. It went cheap. There's one here: http://njs-keirin.blogspot.com/2008/08/eimei-red.html for $720(USD).

I'm assuming it went cheap because of the size.

Yes that is what i thought,
I would be interested to find out who actaully made this frame and may be the seller should be made aware that what he is selling is a knock off so to speak not a Malvern Star!
