DOME Cafe SaturdaysSo my coach has told me to ride with the DOME Cafe group on Saturdays.
Can someone tell me: What time they leave? Route? Average Speed? Cheers when do we stop for coffee???
Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysMe too. Do I need top apply for an invite?
Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysWho's your coach can I ask?
I ride with Dome in their gear during the week. Weekends often I'm riding with the Tri group, sometimes we ride as a big bunch with Dome. If you ride with Dome after awhile you maybe asked to buy the Dome gear, the Dome Cycling Team as it's part of their group and advertising the Cafe. Saturday mornings we ride at 8am from Dome, usually a 60-80km ride, sometimes some of us may go out for longer. Im often around Hobart and greater areas riding if you want to ride. ![]()
Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysIve never heard of Dome cafe so im no help.
Though if you are being coached Im guessing this ride will be far to quick for me, so im happy to remain oblivious cheers Baldy
Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysWell it depends on how you ride. I will be back to the Ken Self group next week Baldy!!
There are a few of us that push the pace, others cruise along at 25-30km/hr. Dome rides every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6am sharp out to Granton and back with a race up Ten Mile and maybe put the hammer down along the bike track. ![]()

Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysRob
Monday night Ken Self, is it 6pm at the Cenotaph? how far and ave speed..... I need to get stuck into the group rides, does anyone do the Ken Self Wednesday Ride? is it the same time and meet point? oh is anyone doing the Tri this weekend?
Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysThe Ken Self rides are on Monday and Thursday nights, 6pm starting at the shop. The route is over Bonnet hill to Kingston beach and return. The average will depend on who turns up but in general I think its considered an easy pace. Sometimes the faster guys will get stuck into the hill and maybe a short sprint coming back to the casino. The reason it varies is its open to everyone, we have 14-16 yo boys to middle aged women with some new to bunches and some with experience. Im still very much a bunch noobie myself, still getting comfortable. Sorry I cant give you an accurate average but I ride to and from the ride from Claremont, usually at an easy warm up and warm down pace each way.
Maybe the faster people ride on another night? Ive got no idea, these ones are more than fast enough for me. Cheers Baldy
Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysWednesday nights the faster riders go out from Ken Self, Thursday nights usually there is A group and B group leaving at seperare times, 10mins of each other. A group is the faster riders, B the medium-slower riders.
Also Saturdays there used to be, unsure if still ongoing a social ride at 4pm from Ken Self, a chat, ride, you can have a go at Ten Mile and Cadburys, but it's open to everyone. Good way tot learn how to group ride, that's where I learnt! ![]()
Re: DOME Cafe Saturdays
6pm From Ken Self in Elizabeth Street. I will be there in my BNA or Dome kit. Distance varies but 40 odd kms, and avg speed between 25kmh/r and 30 kmh/r. I am doing the Tri this weekend, 750 swim/20TT/5k run, I'm only doing the ride. I'll be riding in ym BNA or Dome kit so if you ride by then say G'day. ![]()
Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysRob see you there, sounds like our paths cross a lot,
I will be in my usual white, red, black Avanti gear and red helmet..... what is the BNA kit/gear?
Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysBNA jersey, do a search should be a able to find a photo somewhere in Gen Discussion. I wear black bib knicks, white Giro Atmos helmet. Riding a FeltF5. The BNA jersey is Blue and white, Bicycle Network Australia accross it. If you come down into the transistion area you should find me.

Re: DOME Cafe Saturdaysgood work Ian,
I did my first last Monday. I found it restricting in the pack on the way the Bonnet and then got flogged on the way back at the group meet with some very fast riders and sprinted home. I might be there next monday. when do we stop for coffee???
Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysOh i heard a trainer slagging the DOME riders, as they go to a different cafe after there ride and are try to get sponcership......"just like the DOME riders go but we are better/faster then them". um not sorry you're not when do we stop for coffee???
Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysUsual banter as there is. Ive been a Dome rider for about a year now, (Paul has ordered some new gear if your interested in putting in an order). I don't really see any other regular organised rides with as many riders in Hobart than as the Dome group. When most week days we get between 8-15 and on the weekends up to 25 on Saturdays. There will always be people talking $hit. And as we wear Dome gear, it's easy to point us out. Also...it should be known there are a few fast riders in the Dome group as well.

Re: DOME Cafe SaturdaysI'm hoping to make the ride Saturday morning. Hoping the wrist is up for it. What other times do the DOME riders head out?
