Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchOnly 65km - we could do that at race pace.
I ride, therefore I am.

Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchLooks like I'm doing the 65km option now as well. I doubt I'll be able to ride the course beforehand though so off to practice on the hills here for me with a little extra altitude training...

Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchI'm doing the 65km as well, along with one of my brothers, one of my sisters and my Dad. We're most likely riding to the start and back from the finish so should do about 100km all up anyway, and like others have said we don't really want to do the Cotter loop twice.

Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchI did 2 laps this morning of the Uriarra/Cotter section. Happy to now sign up for the 110km effort
Current Ride: Giant 2010 TCR Advanced 1
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchDo you know if the Amy ride is doing anti-clockwise or clockwise?
I think I will do a Bilby ride next weekend on this route: Cotter- Condor Ck (end of tar)- Uriarra
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchAnti Clockwise which I prefer
I think i passed the Bilbys today out there, well I passed a heap of bikes with tri-bars so i'm guessing it may have been them. A few were struggling up the climb from Uriarra crossing back towards Stromlo, was glad I had the downhill run through there Current Ride: Giant 2010 TCR Advanced 1
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchWe did a clockwise run of Uriarra loop today.
The 3 sister was crazy, more like 3 bit@(AT)(AT)@h... I do prefer the anti clock wise run.
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchProb passed you then
Anti Clockwise is much easier, mostly long gentle climbs & steep descents compared with the reverse. Current Ride: Giant 2010 TCR Advanced 1
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th Marchnah... rode with the pedal power instead. 4 or so in the group, but always scattered around.
not the bilby guys. they started earlier than I did. but will try the bilby guys next time.
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th March
I don't - you should try stopping on the way down the hill. Hmmm.... opportunity to see if I can melt the GHP II brake shoes. I ride, therefore I am.

Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th March
I went anti-clockwise so still prob crossed paths at one stage. I started around the same time as PP but wanted to do 100km so went it alone. Current Ride: Giant 2010 TCR Advanced 1
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchWhy don't we do the Uriarra ride together next Saturday mate.
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchFor all you counterclockwise fanboyz, surely the three sisters (which I actually dont mind) is better than the endless uphill coming out of the cotter.
As for the gillett ride, I think I might hit this one. Sounds like a nice ride. 110kms is a nice distance. Should be able to push fairly close either side of 30kmh. I will be sure not to do the bakery bunch ride the day before, though. Merida Reacto 907 TWE wheels, Merida HFS 1000D, Merida Cyclocross CX4 Disc, Custom HongFu 29, Norco Diamond, Chariot CX1+CX2
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchNah the climb out of the Cotter is much more enjoyable in my eyes

Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchFair enough. I guess there are a few rest points on the way up. Either way, they arent significant climbs. Although at the end of Fitz's last year, I found the sisters a little harder than usual.

Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchWhich is understandable.
Mind you I've only done the clockwise loop once and that was late last year. Done the anti-clockwise loop about 5times over the past month so maybe i should change it up a bit and then compare the 2. Current Ride: Giant 2010 TCR Advanced 1
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchSo whats the roll call looking like for Amy's?
I'm in. Who else? Perhaps we could link up on the day? Merida Reacto 907 TWE wheels, Merida HFS 1000D, Merida Cyclocross CX4 Disc, Custom HongFu 29, Norco Diamond, Chariot CX1+CX2

Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th March35km here. Can't be stuffed doing Uriarra-Cotter especially with no training. I will be riding to the start and hopefully getting my family to come and collect me.
Have a grumpy 6yo because I have told her that Mummy is doing the ride by myself (on a carbon roadie instead of steel touring mtb with tag-along). Hopefully it won't rain this Monday so that we can do the BCBR together to assuade her event lust a little Steph
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th MarchYeah, the ride on Monday with a trailer should be do-able. Riding to and from as well. Lucky my boy likes the trailer.
So it sounds like theres three for 110. Looking forward to it. Going to try to catch on the back of the big boys. Merida Reacto 907 TWE wheels, Merida HFS 1000D, Merida Cyclocross CX4 Disc, Custom HongFu 29, Norco Diamond, Chariot CX1+CX2

Current Ride: BMC SSX01 ![]()
Re: Amy's Ride - Canberra 14th March3 of us coming down from the Snowy Mountain's for this. We were originally looking at the 110km option but after a sufficient lack of training are now all doing the 65km instead. Should be a good day adn looking forward to it
