Re: roll call for the Bike Week 100kmHAHAHAHA - yep - I saw 3 guys coming after me, You lightweights can go uphill a lot faster!!
I prefer sprints and TT. Put me on a track and in a TT and power is what's important, my cadence sits natually at 90-110rpm naturally after a year of spinning. I put out a lot of power at a constant speed but I find it difficult to ride in intervals. In a sprint I can sit at 1300 watts for 5-8 seconds, 47kmh+. Highest sprint is 54kmh/r. It also comes down to muscle development physiology etc. I used to ride TT at my HR zone 170-184 but now with a power meter I know what power output I can sustain for a length of time like a 20k TT. Look at Cancellara, he's a big guy for a Tdf rider. Still the best TT rider in the world. What hurt was Tea Tree, end of last year I was doing a lot of hill repeats and I was riding hills a lot better, after 5 months of TT training hill climbing hurts the legs. I'll start some hill work on Wed for a few road races I am entering. ![]()
Re: roll call for the Bike Week 100kmGood to see your Cadence has improved significantly BarryTas....good job..you coming in tonight?...hey RobRollin are you using a powertap with your garmin head unit? Using power is pretty interesting, I have had my powertap for nearly 2.5 years, and provides a good deal of info in real time and is comparable no matter the enviro conditions - a watt is a watt no matter what!
Re: roll call for the Bike Week 100kmHey Christian
We have actually met, I know Steve as a close friend. Yes I do but I have issues connecting to WKO or SportsTracks at times. I should use the PowerTap head unit. I have found since using a PT that I know my thresholds for TT. I haven't done any hill work since August last year only TT training on the track and racing. So my thresholds for hillclimbing are not yet done. Im interested to see my power output climbing. It's a great way to be able to measure your real performance, like a TT your power is the truth! ![]()
Re: roll call for the Bike Week 100kmHello Christian,
I maybe there tonight, I have my gym bag at work...but depending on the weather and work i may hit the road. RobRollin, what road races do you have in mind? when do we stop for coffee???
Re: roll call for the Bike Week 100kmThe below at this stage. Im looking at the smaller races which suit me and TT's. The Bothwell two day event looks to be a great event, prologue, road race and a crit in two days. Also maybe going to Melb throughout the year to race in a few TTs.
02-May-10 Broadmarsh Graded scratch 44km 10am 23-May-10 Richmond Ken Self Memorial Race 40km 10am 06-Jun-10 STVCC & Tri South Individual TT Richmond 20KM ![]()
Re: roll call for the Bike Week 100kmThe Bothwell 2 day event was cancelled a few weeks ago. The STVCC "rides " page wont open today, so I cant check to see whether it has been reinstated. The problem at the time of cancellation was a clash with Anzac Day activity in Bothwell. Cant argue with that; Anzac Day quite rightly is the priority for the day.
