Anybody have the front lights from Dinotte? I was looking at DealExtreme but now there's another option to consider.
I also saw someone with one of those Fibre Flares (I think that's what their called) today on my drive to work this morning (someone ran up the back of me the other week so now I have to run around getting quotes! Another reason I hate driving to work!). They had is strapped to their back pack and it looked pretty good, very noticable. Anyone else have them?

A guy had one on our bunch ride this morning. Light output was average, much the same as any other light. May be an advantage in the places/ways you can mount it.neild wrote: I also saw someone with one of those Fibre Flares (I think that's what their called) today on my drive to work this morning (someone ran up the back of me the other week so now I have to run around getting quotes! some measured it to be 600 lumen in practice. Still very good for that price.slowflow wrote:I am using the 900 lumen dealextreme front light which lights the path well atleast 10 meters infront. Been using it for for about 3 months, no problems. The output is below 900 lumen but still very bright.
How long did you have to wait for the Dealextreme parcel to arrive though?

I got one, not completely sure on them yet. You can only really mount them on the tubes of your bike, I found I just stuck to my old superflash on the back of my bike because it gives you better visibility from all angles. The amount of flashing surface area of the fibreflares is good, much larger than a normal taillight though.neild wrote: I also saw someone with one of those Fibre Flares (I think that's what their called) today on my drive to work this morning (someone ran up the back of me the other week so now I have to run around getting quotes! Only had them a few days and been on one ride but im very happy with them. They are small, bright and look to be well made. Run on two AAA's. I also like the idea of redundancy which is why I went for two smaller lights instead of one large[B&M or something]. The purpose built rack mounts that come with them dont fit the 50mm spacing of tubus racks, allthough I was able to mount them using one half of the mounting system. Used extra washers and it seems solid.
For about 25bucks each I think they are great value. Got mine from wiggle.
cheers

Peter Heal, PoitAroundOz, is pretty impressed with the initial performance of his Tioga Dual Eyes. So another one to through into the mix.

Nice light for dry conditions, but from experiecne those clamps are rubbish unfortunately. The screw that tightens the hose clamp is soft plastic and strips easily. Becasue of the distance from the seatpost the fitting suspends the light, you do need to have them done up firmly to get them to stay in place.Aushiker wrote:Hi

The casing design as sold is not going to survive that many good dunkings in heavy rain - although using mudguards may help extend its life by reducing the amount of water kicked up onto it, and a bit of clear packaging tape around the perimeter may stop the water.

Also got a Cateye LD1100 this week. Damn that is a chunky and bright light, but unfortunately the mount doesn't fit on my bike so I have to order some spare parts from Wiggle. Thus yet to test it on a ride.
Note: The Kathmandu 2LED jobs are just re-badged. I bought the same lights from Torpedo7 last year and they came with Route7 logos. They are identical to the Kathmandu ones.
