ssssh Fun Runs

Postby BarryTas » Mon Mar 29, 2010 8:21 am

so i will be shunned for posting about running…..so be it,

I can hear my legs screaming now as I sit at my desk and think about running as of this week I will have to start running training for Fun Runs.

There are three fun runs on in a row,

Mothers Day Fun Run, 8 or 4 km
City to Casino Fun Run, 11 or 7 km
Kingston Fun Run, 5km…I think, or it could be six.

So I will be confusing and hurting my legs with a combination of running, cycling and a bit of strength training.

I invite and encourage you all to have a crack at, at least one Fun Run, even if you a pure cyclist you will be surprised at how fats you can run and how much fun it is.

What about the Budget Fun Run, thats in there somewhere.

I do most of the fun runs, I'm not a runner but I cna run a decent 4k run in 22-23mins. I try and beat the previous years time, I will NOT do the Point to Pinnacle again!

I dont know if the Jim Don Memorial run is also happening this year, put on by the Harriers, 24hr run Sat-Sun, 4k or 8k on the Sunday.

I run once a week either at work on Wed or after work during the week, last week it was Risdon Dam. Usually it is a hilly course from work around North Hobart.

I dont like running much, I can put in a quick 4.4km but I suffer for 2-3 days afterwards. I just dont train and expect my legs to be able to cope which they don't.

Slow runs wont build speed......undulations are qhats required. Hill work only builds power, leg speed is what you need!

Saw you there today Barry, you cannot hide, you were running!!!!!!

Nice day for it, from the start everyone went out really quickly. That last hill hurt a lot. Both calves cramping, right hip a bit sore. Nice weather, and I did a good run especially not being a flat run.

City to Casino next weekend.

ah the legs have recovered a lot better than last year.... even with 120kms of easy riding over the weekend

last year's time for the 8km 36.06........and this year 34.48, not bad as i did barley any running before hand.

oh and Rob i dug up you time for the 4km 21.08...i didn't think you were going to do the fun runs, they are addictive.

Rob see you at he city to Cas, i am doing the 7km, will you be at the kingston 6km the following weekend?

The 4km was actually 4.2 according to GPS, we were duped!! I am fairly happy with that time considering the weekend I had and how healthy I was.

I'll be doing the rest of the Fun Runs, City to Casino, and Kingston. I've done most runs for the past couple of years, steadily getting better, I'm still no runner :D Ive been running most weekends with AthleticsSouth, as well.

if you see me on the day. To answer your question, yes i am wearing a ladies running top.

The All Aeorbics All Sorts corporate team ran out of guys tops in my size, so yes for the day i will be a lagre woman, and yes the top is tight around by bust......take from this what you will

my question is....do i now qualify for the femal division?

Haha nice Barry! Well I'll be out this weekend... I'm up at White Water Wall (Freycinet) climbing all weekend. Otherwise I may have been tempted... *may* have been.

Cheers

City to Casino, 7kms - 27.09.........last year 30.20

very very happy.

just goes to show what a bit of running each week for about 2 months can do. Now i want to redo the Burnie 10, my time was 47mins. But all i had been doing was TT training for the Freycinet Challenge.

now, kingston 6km fun run - then - 20kmTT - then a week of - then get into the training for the winter challenge and fighting the dending evil weather
