easter 100km+ ride...this is not a race

Postby BarryTas » Mon Mar 29, 2010 3:20 pm

If anyone is still interested in a looong ride at Easter but can’t do the Launceston Ride with Robrollin’ then I suggest I loong loop ride at easter. I know you all have the bug from the Century Ride.

I suggest we go for a ride (if anyone wants to) on either the Monday of Tuesday. The long ride would be; bike track, Granton, Boyer Road to Rosegarland, left down B16 to Bushy Park, New Norfolk, Granton, Bike Track.

It is a 117km ride, flat with a few little climbs.

I have done this ride many times, its my endurance ride. This ride takes me 4:15 hours solo, it would be good to do it with others.

hmm i should have put this in the ride thread...oops
when do we stop for coffee???

Despite me taking a splill on the Friday, thus riding with bruses and funny looking handle bars, it was good. Perfect weather, not hot nor cold and no wind. It was great to do the ride with an other person. I my ride time was a minute quicker than my lat which was in Feb. Cam was a star esp as he put up with my costume changes and carrying my sunnies. cam did really well but hit the wall on the bike track. Poor guy didn't pack enough carbs/food but he will be a force to be reckoned with next time.

I want to have a crack at the Imperial Century next then the double century

Haha thanks for the kind words Barry! Yeah hit the wall hard, as Barry said not enough energy for my body to burn and bailed at the 105k mark. Started the morning with a sore throat (thank the missus for that one) and ended the day with a fever! Still off work at the moment feeling a bit crap but might make the Dome ride tomorrow morning. Won't be doing the full ride (prior engagement at 10) but should be able to go Granton with everyone.

Will definitely be up for another crack at the ride soon Barry!

Oh and I hope that bruising has gone down... looked mean on Monday!
