HR is next to useless for short intervals....10 minutes and above maybe.
If you have never used a power meter you will probably disagree...but once you have kept a steady power for even a 5 minute VO2 effort you quickly see how watching you heart rate is pointless.
For a 20 minute interval done steadily for me at threshold the heart rate keeps climbing through out the entire effort...if I rode to heart rate i wouldn't be keeping a steady power level.

Perceived Effort is better than HR...but then your PE is just PE until you ride with a PM and then you realise that your PE was too hard or too soft...so really you need a PM B4 U can trust your PE.

The latter trains poor (and sub-optimal) pacing habits.sogood wrote:iso-Power vs iso-Cardic training.toolonglegs wrote:if I rode to heart rate i wouldn't be keeping a steady power level.

Maybe us PM lovers should hush hush...after all we have a major advantage...OK for me it is no big deal.Only me and one team mate have power meters out of the the 200-300 riders I see most weekends.

I dunno, still plenty of PM owners who train/pace like crap.toolonglegs wrote:Maybe us PM lovers should hush hush...after all we have a major advantage...OK for me it is no big deal.Only me and one team mate have power meters out of the the 200-300 riders I see most weekends.
And non-PM riders who know how to train and pace well.

"Golden Cheetah", development build from around April 10-12... not the current release.JV911 wrote:this ok? training peaks > personal > basicJV911 wrote:what software are people using to analyse their PM data?
I ride, therefore I am. But don't ride into harm's way.
