"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever" Lance Armstrong

And he said he could've gone harder if he'd taken more risks like Wiggins.heay wrote:3rd in the ITT. Great work only 2 seconds off the lead but he has put some 20 odd seconds over his main rivals.
If he can cross the line less than 2 seconds behind Wiggins and look so comfortable by comparison, God help everyone. I just hope he doesn't get tangled up on one of the flatter faster stages in the first week.

I was surprised to see he's wearing #1, might have been better on the back of a former winner (I know Menchov is not riding the Giro, but Basso, Cunego are). Maybe a sign of a new found assuredness, I hope so.toolonglegs wrote:NOOOOOOOOOO....don't put any pressure on him...you know how he handles that!.
Not convinced that his new team is any stronger than his old team, even taking into account Bookwalter's excellent first day performance. He is by his own admission better over the shorter TT's.
Still a very promising start
Nice start by Porte also. I think it was RICHARD who predicted good things from him on this forum a while ago.

"We will not look at keeping the jersey at any cost tomorrow. Farrar is only one second behind me. I'm not going to look for bonus seconds on the road tomorrow against him. But I'll drop him off on the Zoncolan if he's still there!"

Reading the reports, sounded like the team will do everything to shed the jersey. Too much pressure and work to keep that jersey this early in the stage. He needs to save his boys for the 3rd week for obvious reasons.

because there's a producer, probably resembling that guy in Frontline, who gets a news feed for international sport and says something like "cycling - that's for p**fs isn't it? get me a real story that doesn't involve cross dressing effeminate euro trash!"The Womble wrote: I cant beleive that 7 news last night had something about a little twirp from Brissy getting to the national BMX championships flas across the bottom of the screen, and that Matty (im a druggo gang raping tool so reward me with another tv show even though 9 sacked my arse) Johns had repainted Webke's pub roof, and yet completely ignored the Giro results on the 1st day.
