Brisbane to Gold Coast Challenge 2010

Postby Pax » Fri May 14, 2010 9:48 pm

Just a quick post for now. BQ has announced the date for this year; it is Oct 10th.

Gotta get to bed now, heading into the Mountains with Winona and friend at 5.00am in the morning, after a series of late nights

Sweet! Plenty of time to Register, book flights and find some accommodation. It'll be expensive for myself and the family to come down, but this is my beer and smokes :) :)
And bugger driving down, drove down for the Ipswich 100 - won't do that again - the drive that is.

Cheers

Are entries actually open yet? I went to the "enter" link, but can't see where to actually click to enter! I'm probably just blind or stupid or both.

I'd love to have another crack at this. I might have to earn some big brownie points to fly up for the ride. It might even warrant a crack at O'Reilly's the day before as a warm up:)

Ha! Maybe! Did I mention I was the first rider to register for CQ? :D

I figure with my cycling being what it is, the only time I will ever be first is in the registration process.

Anyone living on the south end of the Gold Coast - I am getting a few people together for a Brisbane to the Tweed ride as a few of us live down this way and its easier to ride home then to find transport.

Feel free to jump on board and get a lift home.

Also thinking of ways to get up to brissie for the start - thinking of taking the train from burleigh and ride from tweed to the station(can detour and pick people up on the way if interested) ... it does make for a very arly start though!
I have to ride early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing...

My mum lives in Currumbin, and she gets the train up to Brisbane for the event. The train usually arrives just on the ride's start time. You're right, it makes for a very early start, but it beats driving up!

rocky to brissie on the train would be a bit of a mission for a 100km ride... any one know how many people they had riding last year?

Registered this morning.

There is also an Amy Gillet ride being organised in/around Rockhampton for the 1st August with 25, 60 & 100km rides. I'll post details once they are received for anyone nearby.

Cheers
Mick

ps seems like i better HTFU and ignore the cold weather and spend some time in the saddle training

Hi All,

I am a newbie, I would like to do this ride, but am a bit concerned about having a mechanical breakdown on the way. I can do basic maintenance. For those who have done this before, do they have any mechanical support in case you get stuck?

Thanks,

Anniegray

Annie,

Yes, there is a SAG wagon and mechanical assistance on the route. Check out the FAQ.
