Red Bull air race bike path closures

Postby Pushy » Mon Oct 22, 2007 11:57 pm

Saw the signs up in South Perth. Bike paths along the South Perth foreshore will be closed as of Oct 29. No details yet on their www.

Hmmm, how annoying. Last year they were making cyclists dismount in some sections during the week. Though I didn't ride through there at the weekend when the show was on. I find it too annoying trying to dodge pedestrians and little tykes on trikes.

Worried about all those naughty bikers with their frame mounted Stinger missiles.

I don't understand why they're closing it so early. It's not for another week and a half... Annoying.

Yip and it's getting pretty crowed on the other side now - pedestrian decided to step out to the right for absolutely no reason whatsoever today and I hit her! - she was ok but sent me off into the grass for a bit...totally unbelievable....

It pays to ring your bell frequently on that northern bank's bike path. I can't believe how many pedestrians use it! We should start up a campaign to get a separate bike path installed - a straight one without those arbitrary bends. (Who the hell designs these paths, anyway? A drunkard?)

Cheers,
Graeme

don't see what the problem is. The detours add about 400m to the Causeway/Narrows trip and apart from rubber matting (which gives the legs a workout on a fixed gear) the detour path is no different to the normal path.

Was about to make the same comment. No different to what they did last year.

I didn't realise there was a detour - I'll keep my eyes open next time.
