A little the same here.Glorious day,I'm on a RDO and ordinarily would have put in a 80k trip up to Lofty..........but, I want to give my Track bike it's inaugural run at the velodrome tonight, so saving myself for that.

Nice bike MichealB, can sympathise with not getting out in this weather, hope it holds out for another week, hopefully my bike will be back on the road again by next friday. Have a day off and have been annoying insurance company to hand over the cheque for repairs, finally it has arrived after eight weeks of watching other people head into the hills. Fingers crossed for repairs to be done and weather to remain pleasant

I did the same Saturday morning, riding up Norton Summit right around dawn. Not a breath of wind and not a single bird singing, the peace and quiet was just beautiful.

It felt heaps warmer up on Mt Lofty and got progressively colder again on the descent down the old freeway. What struck me was the diversity of cycle clothing on display...from full finger gloves, arm warmers, leg warmers, gillets, waterproof jackets and booties (ie full winter kit) to several people riding in nothing more than a jersey and shorts (ie the kind of clothing I ride in in the middle of summer). It took me about an hour to warm up again when I got home (and I was wearing my full winter cycling kit) so whats with the people who can ride around in 5-6C air temps and not feel cold? Or are they just faking it and quietly freezing their brass monkeys?

I headed out sat morning as well, but checked the weather on elders site before leaving. 4 degrees in Novar Gardens at 6:45, 9 degrees at lofty the same time!! I was expecting it to be in minuses! The ride up lofty was great but bloody froze coming down norton.

And I had a nice addition to your clothing collection, knee warmer on my head to keep ears warm in place of missing correct piece of kit

I know, I really REALLY don't want to be at work. Nice day outside, warm, no much wind, and on Wed we are being made redundant.

Bugger. Been there and done that already. Twice.

And the forecast is for rain on Thursday....

Good luck in th job hunting. My two redundancies led to career changes that have made life much better.

Today I didn't.
So I went to Lobethal and back (Cos I've been slack and Grandslam3 is going to hurt).

Beautiful weather, autumn leaves. Just stunning.
Thought you'd like to know.

Hoping to do a similar ride as last Sunday this weekend again.

You are right, with the sun shining and the autumn leaves, it's a great time in the hills.

Forecast is 19 deg with 90% chnace of rain. So it will probably be 18 & sunny :D

I think there is a need for a group "mental health day" ride coming on here.

Ahead of you there... have a 'sick day' all planned for tomorrow... should be out on the bike by 9am, down to Aldinga and back for 80km and a coffee at The Tin Shed at McLaren Vale on the way home.

Cough, cough... better get some rest... feeling 'ill'... :P

Very jealous. Was going to go and do the same today but got busy and then have a trip next week. Have to get out Saturday and hope the rain holds off Sunday.

Just returned home after a longer than expected recce to lobethal and back. After eight wekks off that really hurt, but what a stunning morning for it,very crisp to start with but once the sun started poking through the light clouds, it was bliss! The gorge was beautiful with the fog still holding through the narrower sections, cudlee creek rd climb more than warmed me up, a quick powerade stop in lobethal then return viaa norton summit, where i took another break.Needed some energy and found it in a pint of coopers dark ale,and a few small chocolates, then down the hill, returing home via lower nth east/hancock road. The colours in the hills are stunning at the moment and the roads were pretty quiet.Awesome ride, now just need to start improving the fitness level, returning to commuting as of monday.

Beautiful day for it.

Coopers as an energy drink - might be a new marketing angle for them? Love dark ale, love riding. But the two together? i couldnt keep it down.

Sounds like a nice ride Bongo, but not sure about the Coopers mid ride ?

What would the BAC be after being slightly dehydrated ? .....

My preparation was not the best, so little food along the way,I needed something to get me home, and dark beer has plenty of energy in it,washed it down with loads of water, and made it home no probs. It is not my normal form of energy but it worked a treat.Next time need to pack the dried fruit, and hopefully will have the fitness levels back up a bit.Not sure on BAC, probably raised a bit, certainly felt fine.

As long as you made it home safe.

Not something I condone though.
