Police informed me that the robber is already in jail for six years. Obviously did more than steal bikes.
Big thanks to all who replied and good luck Clancy1in finding yours.
Cheers

Re: Found - Stolen Giant TCR CO posted 30.1.2009Michael
I just hope the insurance company will let you get first dibs on the bike. I dont know what gives me more pleasure hearing about the arse who got 6 years for stealing your Giant. Or screwing over the Pawnbrokers who took his bike. I wonder what bloody vetting they did, Im sure he looked like a 6 4" roadie. As I work in the Youth Justice process periodically, i know what these ratbags are like. He wouldnt be a nice person to meet. The coppers in good sense will probably chase up more charges on him now. I hope he enjoying lockdown !!!! cheers Cam
Re: Found - Stolen Giant TCR CO posted 30.1.2009Excellent news Michael.
Can you tell us what happened in this case regarding getting the bike back? Did Cash Converters have to just hand it over to you, leaving them out of pocket? Thanks. - Dave
Re: Found - Stolen Giant TCR CO posted 30.1.2009Wow - love a happy ending
Re: Found - Stolen Giant TCR CO posted 30.1.2009It wasn't Cash Converters.
Apparently all one has to do to flock off a bike is show their ID, if they haven't got a receipt a form gets filled out (like Stat. Dec.) to say that they are the owner. Pretty easy. After police positively identified me as owner they took the bike from the shop, poor Pawner. The process is I think that the insurance will take it back and who knows, probably auction it off some time with other recovered stuff. So I didn't gain overly much, except satisfaction. And the wheel I borrowed just a week before could be returned to the rightful owner. cheers mjbbike
