Another cyclist killed on SA roads
This from The Adelaide Now website:
Note that the first car stopped - the Triumph did not stop
POLICE are looking for a Triumph Dolomite that hit and killed a cyclist moments after he was knocked from his bike by another car.
The Triumph took off after hitting the 41-year-old Norwood man as he tried to get up from Payneham Rd, Stepney, outside Sagamartha Nepali Restaurant.
The man was first hit by a red Ford Festiva at 6.55pm yesterday as he rode his bike across Payneham Rd, between Stepney St and Harrow Rd.
The driver of the Ford pulled over and rushed to help the man.
But as he tried to get up, he was hit by a second car, which dragged him at least 10m along the road.
A doctor who was dining at the nearby restaurant gave CPR until paramedics arrived but they were unable to save the cyclist.
Police from Major Crash are investigating his death.
Police want to speak to anyone who knows the whereabouts of the white Triumph, which has a registration similar to RGW 571.
The car has probably sustained damage to its front and left hand side.
Anyone with information should contact Bank SA Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the Triumph should call the police assistance line on 131 444.
The man's death takes South Australia's road toll to 59, the same as at this time last year.
